Malay Dessert : 'Kuih Tepung Talam Gula Melaka'

Assalamualaikum @ Peace be upon you. 

Today, Budak Dapur will introduce you about 'kuih tepung talam gula melaka'. One of the Malaysians 🇲🇾 all time favourite Malay's dessert. 


Tepung talam known for it tastes, sweet, salty & creamy. The sweetness came from the palm sugar(gula melaka) and the creaminess is from the coconut milk.

Usually, tepung talam has two layer.
The white and darker layer. The colour of the layer depend on the ingredients used. There is also people that use screw pine leaves to substitute the palm sugar to give difference colour. Thus, it create a beautiful green layer.


The dessert involve steaming as the cooking method. It is easy and not require any complicated method/technique in the preparation process.

Its often eat for breakfast, hi-tea and any kinds of gathering or event.
